Former Bathurst councillor and federal Labor Party candidate for Calare, Jess Jennings, is currently en-route to the USA to assist in the Hilary Clinton presidential campaign.
Jess left Bathurst with his wife Kate and daughter Lola for a five week trip to the United States – which coincided with the presidential election.
He told Bathurst City Life he will spend a week in the swing state of Virginia, volunteering on the Clinton campaign.
“It really is a watershed moment in US politics, so I am excited to be able to take part in hopefully the election of the first female president of the United States,” he said.
Jess noted he was hoping to learn from the US campaign model to bring back to Bathurst to assist his future campaigns in local politics.
“The whole presidential campaign model is so well organised, so I hope I can glean a few ideas to help me when I get home,” he added.
Jess said he will also be visiting New York, Los Angeles and New Orleans with the family pursuing other business ventures.
