One young man’s love of motorcycles will result in funding for a vital item of equipment for the Bathurst Hospital.
Jake Carroll was a member of the Panorama Motorcycle Club and in his memory the Club made a donation of $5000 to the Intensive Care Unit of Bathurst Hospital last week.
This donation is towards the cost of a new ECG machine and is in appreciation of the work of the ICU staff.
A further donation of $1000 is being added by the Baulkham Hills Junior Motorcycle Training Club, who occassioanlly use the Panorama MCC track at Mount Panorama.
On the anniversary of Jake’s death, the Club ran a motocross meeting in his memory and the proceeds of that meeting, together with other fundraising by his family, has provided the money that is being donated to the hospital.
Club President Bruce Morgan told Bathurst City Life the available total of $6000 would not cover the full cost of a new ECG machine, estimated at $11,000, but the Panorama Motorcycle Club is also adding the proceeds of the Geoff Martin Memorial Run, held on Sunday, to the project.
“We also encourage other community organisations to consider this as a very worthwhile cause for additional funding,” Bruce said.
