Featuring spot-on harmonies and an eclectic range of modern covers, Bathurst/Sydney duo Off the Cuff put on an engaging performance at the Church Bar over the weekend.

Featuring the talents of Gabbi Bolt and TJ Tanuvasa, the duo displayed their strong love for R&B/soul music in a set that displayed their exceptional talents as musicians and their ability to literally perform unfamiliar songs ‘off the cuff.’

Having met in Sydney as students at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts, Bolt and Tanuvasa have been performing as Off the Cuff since 2015, and have performed at such venues as Martin Place in Sydney’s CBD and the Sydney Museum of Contemporary Art.

Their set featured some unique takes on classics from Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston and some fantastic modern selections from Beyoncé and Mark Ronson.

A prominent feature of the duo’s performance was their impressive ear for harmonies, with both Bolt and Tanuvasa possessing a faultless knack for the talent, while their ability to pick up certain requests on the spot provided a deeper meaning to the name “Off the Cuff.”

Their performance was greeted by a welcoming vibe at the Church Bar, serving as a fantastic setting for lighter, more acoustic entertainment.

Off the Cuff backed up their performance at the Church Bar with a gig at the Kings Hotel the next night, in what was a busy weekend of performing for the duo, and by all accounts, the gig proved to be another success for the pair.

While Off the Cuff haven’t currently scheduled any gigs for the near future, be sure to stay in touch with the duo on Facebook for further news, as you can never go wrong with a solid acoustic duo like these talented individuals!
