Christmas comes to Bathurst on Sunday with the annual Reliance Credit Union Carols by Candlelight.
Hosted by the Mitchell Conservatorium, the event will be supported by the Bathurst City and RSL Band.
A new face on the podium last year was local singer and performer, Lauren Plenderleith, and she will return as the event’s master of ceremonies.
Lauren told Bathurst City Life she was thrilled to be asked to MC the Carols again this year.
“I have attended the Carols every year in Bathurst since I was a small child; to MC it is always a thrill,” she beamed.
“This year, all performers had to again audition to perform at the Carols, so the community can expect some stand-out performances during the evening.”
Lauren noted all of the classics will be on show during the Carols, while the solo performers will also work with the band for showcase performances.
“The music program starts at 6pm, while the Christmas Carols will officially start just before sunset at 7pm,” Lauren reminded.
“I really encourage people to get to Machattie Park early to get a good spot, as it is expected to get very busy this year.
“Oh, and expect plenty of crowd participation this year!” she concluded.
A new addition to this year’s Carols is a competition run in conjunction with Bathurst City Life to offer the audience of Carols by Candlelight a chance to see their Carols photo on the front cover of the paper.
